UPDATE: LMP APPEAL HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL!

The LMP is delighted to announce that its appeal to raise £50,000 by the end of July to keep the orchestra in business is on course to succeed. The response from the people of Croydon and around the country has been huge and has shown that the LMP is a valued organisation by many. Read the full press release here.

 

NEW LEADERS FOR THE LMP

July 2011

Following the departure of David Juritz last year, the LMP is delighted to announce the appointment of Marieke Blankestijn and Susanna Candlin as Leaders of the orchestra. Currently Leader of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Marieke is also principal guest leader with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and frequently appears as guest leader with the English Chamber, Rotterdam Philharmonic and Bournemouth Symphony orchestras. Susanna has been Co-leader of the LMP for many years and will now work alongside Marieke as Leader.

LMP ANNOUNCE ROXANNA PANUFNIK AS ASSOCIATE COMPOSER

March 2011

The LMP is delighted to announce the appointment of Roxanna Panufnik as its first Associate Composer.

Roxanna is perhaps better known for her choral writing but has an extensive catalogue of orchestral pieces, many of which are still to receive UK premieres. Her three year tenure, which begins in 2012, will include opportunities to hear some of these works as well as at least one new commission each year.

Roxanna will be closely involved with our local education and community work and several recordings are also in the pipeline.
