Where else do you teach/play?
The RPO, or with anyone else who'll have me.
Where were you born?
Leeds.
How old were you when you started playing, and why did you take up the viola?
Five years old; after comprehensively failing an intelligence/aptitude test.
What has been your most fun/interesting musical experience so far?
Probably the viola section sweepstake concerning at what point in the concert the conductor will send the leader's music stand careering into the audience.
Who have you enjoyed working with the most and why?
In spite of the terrific array of conductors the LMP works with, there's nothing to beat the heightened feeling of chamber music making when David or Susie is directing from the violin.
Do you play any other instruments?
I play the cazoo in the Lower Sydenham/Penge village (borders) Limbo Rock Ensemble.
Do you have any hobbies you manage to fit into your spare time?
Medieval re-enactment and garden hopping take up a fair wedge of my free time and I'm tempted by the idea of keeping chinchillas.
Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Yorkshire.
What's your favourite sound?
The close juxtaposition of an ill-controlled exhalation and the dull click of a mashie-niblick making a perfect contact.
