Jeremy Gough

Sub-Principal Trombone

Jeremy Gough joined the London Mozart Players in 2005

Where else do you teach/play?
Freelance with London Philharmonic Orchestra, English National Opera, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Concert Orchestra, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Garsington Opera, West End shows (The Lion King). I teach at two Prep schools in Surrey where I have 40 pupils on trumpet, trombone, French horn and tuba and I coach three brass ensembles at those schools.

Where were you born?
Calne, Wiltshire.

How old were you when you started playing, and why did you take up the trombone?
11 years old. It was an instrument I liked the sound of and grew fascinated by at a couple of shows/concerts I attended.

What has been your most fun/interesting musical experience so far?
Too many to mention, but spending two weeks in Cannes playing for one hour a day for the launch of the BMW 7 series was certainly different if not the lap of luxury!

Who have you enjoyed working with the most and why?
The London Philharmonic Orchestra because of the buzz of working with a world class full symphony orchestra.

Do you play any other instruments?
Piano to a dubious standard!

Do you have any hobbies you manage to fit into your spare time?
Golf, tennis, swimming.

Where is your favourite holiday destination?
Yet to discover it.

What's your favourite sound?
Has to be a Big Band in full swing.

What would you do if you did not do music/play the trombone?
Get a proper job that enabled me to have free weekends and to afford good holidays!
