Strings in Kingston Parish Church

It will be a stringy affair in Kingston’s Parish Church tonight as part of the Thames Concerts series, with some true gems on the desks. It features works by Britten and Pärt, dedicated to other composers, who were incidentally both violists. The LMP is joined by two amateur orchestras for Vaughan Williams’ Concerto Grosso, which was written for three string orchestras with different levels of skills. To top it all off, Tchaikovsky’s vivacious Serenade for Strings closes what promises to be a delightful concert.

If you play a string instrument, you are invited to join the orchestra for the Concerto Grosso. You will have to attend some rehearsal in the week prior to the concert. More details about this can be found here.
