International star harpist Catrin Finch plays Mozart
Make sure you get seats close to the platform for this concert so you can see the hands of harpist Catrin Finch as she plucks out the delicate filigree of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12, dazzling you with her lightning fast fingers in this intricate work, arranged by Skaila Kanga. Taken from the incidental music to a comedy, Haydn’s Symphony No. 60 is full of humour, with unexpected loud chords, some dodgy tuning in the violins and a random fanfare from the trumpets and drums. You have been warned! The concert concludes on the heights of Mount Olympus for the aptly named Jupiter Symphony, Mozart's final symphonic utterance. Composed in 1788 in only a few weeks the Jupiter represents a bringing to perfection of the symphonist's craft. Its triumphant last movement blends contrapuntal wizardry with breath-taking structural control to produce what remains one of the most thrilling experiences in the concert hall.
