Community and Education work

Support from Croydon Council, Arts Council England and numerous other private trusts and individuals has enabled the LMP to develop one of the country’s most extensive orchestra community and education programmes. Performing in every conceivable type of venue, the LMP aims to provide orchestral music for those who would not normally be able to experience it.

The LMP and its individual musicians have built up a unique expertise in education and community work. Their award-winning programme of workshops and events reaches the very young and the elderly, going into schools of all types, nurseries, day-care centres, hospices, community homes, old people's homes, out-of-school clubs for primary age children and youth clubs for 11-16 year olds.

Many LMP schools events are tailored to link up with the National Curriculum, and composition projects for GCSE and 'A' level students have often led to performance by the students as a featured item at LMP orchestral concerts.

For further information about individual projects, involving either small groups of musicians or the full orchestra, see LMP Education Projects. The LMP welcomes the opportunity to build a project or series of projects in partnership with schools, education authorities, local/ethnic music groups and business partners.
